Coaching for Counsellors - Online Course

Life coaching and business coaching are increasingly used for personal and professional development, and this is a service you could provide. Coaching skills help clients set goals, take responsibility for their actions and move forward in a more focussed way.

Overview

This course will introduce you to the difference between coaching and counselling, together with some coaching skills which complement your existing skills base. This will enable you to either integrate coaching skills into your counselling work or help you decide whether you would like further training as a coach.

What will you gain from this course?

• You will become familiar with the International Coach Federation (ICF) Core Coaching Competencies

• You will have practised the TGROW coaching model and one other current coaching model

• You will have considered how to integrate coaching into your counselling practice

• You will understand some of the differences and similarities between coaching and counselling

This course consists of 12 tutor-contact hours plus 4 hours self-guided study.

Who would benefit from this course?

• Practising counsellors who want to integrate coaching skills into their existing practice, especially towards the end as clients become more robust

• Professionals using counselling skills as part of their role, and who have gained at least a Certificate in Counselling Skills

Participation in this course allows you to progress directly to Day 2 of Rowan's ILM Level 3 Award in Coaching, ILM Level 3 Certificate in Coaching or ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring.

Please Note - To study this course you must have a 120-hour Certificate in Counselling Skills or a Diploma in Counselling or Psychotherapy

How does live online skills training work?

Our Head of Training, Rachel Weiss explains live online skills training in this short article.

Rachel Weiss is a BACP accredited counsellor, as well as a certified coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF). Rachel has delivered coaching training to managers for many years, as well as delivering counselling skills training. She enjoys introducing counsellors to coaching skills.
