About The Event

Traumas are extreme life events that threaten your physical or psychological survival. Some people who experience trauma have clinically diagnosable post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), but many more experience trauma-related symptoms like physiological reactivity to triggers, panic attacks, anxiety, anger, avoidance, or mistrust.

Therapists often refer to ‘big T’ traumas, for example sexual abuse or military combat, and ‘small T’ traumas, such as growing up in a dysfunctional family or unresolved chronic stress.

Louise Magee, a trauma specialist who works as a Relationship and Psychosexual Therapist, will lead you in exploring the impact of trauma in all its guises on intimate relationships and sex.

She will explain the role of the polyvagal system in regulating trauma responses. And you will learn how you to support your clients in the integration of body sensing, experiential breathing and mindfulness in identifying and regulating these responses in relationships, as well as in therapy.
