About The Event
We all handle highly sensitive data every day - but do you know what the word 'data' actually covers? Are you fully compliant compliant with the UK GDPR in all areas of your work; note taking, data storage, data protection policies, consent, security, platforms etc?
Can you be completely certain you're doing everything right, and following not just the guidelines but also the law?
This might not seem like the most exciting CPD to sign up to but it is an invaluable and completely essential day that will not only get you up to speed but also ensure that you don't fall foul of the multitude of pitfalls and common mistakes that could end not only with a significant fine but also could put yourself and your clients at serious risk of having their most private & personal information exploited.
This is a jargon-free day that will make the complex simple, and provides a comprehensive and really accessible walk through of all you need to know. Sections of the day will look at children's rights specifically, but the majority of the day is universal for anyone working therapeutically who handles data (that's everyone!).
Summary:
Navigating data protection can often be worrying, cumbersome and at times baffling for those of us who were taught to talk to people rather than do heavy admin tasks.
Since the inception of The GDPR and Data Protection Act in 2018, Catherine has been making the complicated simple for those who work with clients and or patients.
Cath will take you through all you need to know about Data protection essentials from before the point of contact from a potential client/patient through to how to work safely and ethically online.
The day will be jargon free, and Cath will bring data protection to life and show you how to effectively manage your role under this law.
Areas addressed on the day include:
- What is GDPR & why is it only a small part of Data Protection?
- Note Taking - what is needed & who gets to see what?
- Consent versus "consent"
- Special Considerations, Special Data Categories & Children's Data
- Storage
- Emails
- Privacy Rights & Freedoms
- Client's Rights to See Their Notes
- The Do's, the Don'ts & the Whys
- Security Awareness
- Horror Stories - why all of this is absolutely necessary
