About The Event
Description:
This day’s workshop aims to give the participants a basic introduction to the Jungian Sandplay method as developed by Dora Kalff (1904-1990). In sandplay therapy the client / patient sets up a world in a sand tray that corresponds to their inner state using objects and figures in the arrangement of the sand. In this manner, through free, creative play, unconscious processes are made visible in a three-dimensional form. This course will also cover the basic of Jungian Analytical psychology.
During the day we will cover the following:
- Historical development of Sandplay
- Developmental theory of Erich Neumann and its representation in Sandplay
- Case studies of children and adults who have used Jungian Sandplay
- Exploration of key Jungian theoretical concepts and how they relate to work with clients / patients
The day will consist of lectures, group discussion, presentation of client’s case material and practical activities.
Participants are asked to bring with them a small miniature or object, which holds a special significance to work with in one of the activities.
The training is suitable for therapists and trainees.
About the trainer:
James Barker is an experienced teacher and therapist, working for a number of different counselling organizations in Lincolnshire, as well having his own successful Counselling / Jungian Sandplay private practice in Lincoln.
