Content Summary:
This is a highly participative workshop, which explores key aspects of the law relating to therapeutic work with children and young people in England and Wales. The workshop will introduce a practical and effective model for understanding and applying children's rights in a variety of practice contexts, such as health and education, amongst others. It addresses the many issues relating to working with the Gillick principle in a therapeutic context, and looks at more recent legal developments impacting on this landmark decision. The workshop directly addresses the two key problematic areas facing therapists working with this client group, namely protecting confidentiality and privacy, and secondly, working within existing child protection and safeguarding legislation.
