About The Event
The term ‘sex addiction’ first appeared in the 1980s. Since then, it has become the most widely used term describing sexual behaviours that have gone out of control or become ‘compulsive’.
But is it right to pathologise this behaviour as an addiction?
This two-day workshop will consider and challenge the different schools of thought before exploring, in depth, different approaches to working with out-of-control sexual behaviour.
You will learn how to support people wanting to move away from unwanted urges and behaviours, as well as their partners, through an integrated approach incorporating behavioural, psychological and emotional interventions.
You will also be encouraged to challenge and explore your own beliefs and notions regarding ‘out of control’ sexual behaviour and you will be invited to extend yourself awareness and examine your own therapeutic responses within this often-complex work.
